WJC2018: Pan Am Team in Finals

Canada, Brazil and Peru ended with victories their participation in Mixed Team Event of the Li-Ning BWF World Junior Championships 2018.

China and Korea will play the Final!!

Host Canada defeated the USA in the 17 to 24 Final, ranking as the best Pan Am Team this year. Stanley Feng & Kathie Ho-Shue started the home win against Mirabelle Huang & WinstonTsai by 21-16 and 21-13. Bryce Kan equalized the score for USA by beating Kevin Wang (21-14, 21-10 and 21-17). However, Talia Ng in Singles and Stanley Feng / Kevin Wang in Doubles sealed the Canadian victory against Sanchita Pandey and Winston Tsai / Ryan Zheng respectively.

Brazil also added a new victory and exceeded the result achieved in the World Junior Championships 2017 (Ranked 21). Our Pan Am Olympic Players Fabricio Farias and Jaqueline Lima started the victory against Czech Republic in their singles matches. And the duo Izak Batalha / Jonathan Matias put the final score 3-0 for the South American team culminating in the position 19 of the General Ranking.

The 22nd place is for Mexico, that although they could not win in the last game with Germany, surprised many with the results obtained in the tournament and the great performance of the team, where they highlighted Adelina Quiñonez, Luis Montoya and Jessica Bautista.

Team Peru occupies box 23 after beating Faroe Islands 3-1. Micaela Castillo and Nicolas Macias started the Peruvian victory in Mixed Doubles. Ines Mendoza put the second Peruvian point and the duo Barrueto / Subauste decreed the 3 to 1 final.

Guyana ended the competition in 32nd position after losing to South Africa.

Now our Pan Am players are preparing to contest the Individual Event from this Monday, November 12.
