Spanish Para Badminton International I: Peru and Brazil Succeed in Toledo

Held in March 2026 in Toledo, Spain, the Spanish Para Badminton International I continued the series of competitions hosted in the country, bringing together top international para badminton athletes. The Pan American delegation, led by Peru and Brazil, concluded the tournament with an outstanding performance, securing four gold medals and reinforcing their positions in the world rankings across multiple sport classes.

In Women’s Singles Wheelchair WH2, Peru’s Pilar Jáuregui advanced strongly from the group stage and defeated opponents from Australia and Switzerland in the knockout rounds. In the final, she faced Jung Gyeoul, who had denied her the gold medal in the previous edition. This time, Jáuregui delivered a confident performance to win 21-16, 21-15 and claim the title.

Peru also celebrated success in Women’s Singles SH6 through Giuliana Poveda, who achieved another gold medal after a nearly undefeated tournament, reaffirming her strong position in the world rankings.

Brazil’s gold medals came in Men’s Doubles through international partnerships. In the SU5 category, Yuki Rodrigues joined Malaysia’s Cheah Liek Hou to form a highly effective duo, winning all three group matches without dropping a game to secure the title. In the SH6 event, Brazil’s Vitor Tavares, partnered with France’s Charles Noakes, claimed the gold medal after victories against pairs from Spain, Peru, and Hong Kong.
