Daniel Humblers – Human of Shuttle Time

Roberto Daniel Humblers Samayoa

Shuttle Time National Coordinator, National Badminton Federation of Guatemala

I was born in a town in Guatemala called Quiche, but I spent my childhood in another state where I picked up badminton. I got a study scholarship in the capital through the national federation and I was able to represent my country in international events.

First Experience
I got to know badminton for the first time in my school. A friend took me along as he was training in badminton and I got to know this sport. It caught my attention as a fast sport and I was curious as it looked like a very dynamic sport.

Relationship with Badminton
Since the federation gave me a scholarship in Guatemala City, I grew as an athlete and became known internationally, which opened doors for me in other countries such as Chile, where I worked for five years.

Memorable Events
As an athlete I participated in the Pan American and Central American Games and as a coach I helped my athletes win medals in the Pan American Games and in Olympic qualification events such as the Bolivarian Games and the South American Games.

What Badminton Means
Badminton is part of my life. I have been practicing badminton since I was 10 years old and now I am 31. I have never stopped practicing it, for now I am working in the administrative area as Technical Director and always linked to this beautiful sport.

What Makes it Different
It is a fast, explosive and very interesting sport. Many people fall in love with it when they see it.

Impact of Shuttle Time
The Shuttle Time programme is very important since it supports us with equipment for the development of badminton at the national level. It is always good to have this support, since the problem in several countries is the lack of economic resources.
