I had a happy childhood. I was free to play any time or anywhere as my parents gave me everything they could. But we didnโ€™t have a lot of money back then, and on some days Iโ€™d go hungry to school as I could afford only the travel fare. On other days Iโ€™d walk to school.

In 2012 I was at university when I noticed people playing a sport that Iโ€™d never seen before. I got interested and asked if I could play. I thought it was easy, and although it was quite difficult I couldn’t get away from it.

What struck me about badminton was the trajectory of the shuttlecock when I hit with full forcรฉ. Back then I lacked the technique to beat my opponents.

One of the best experiences Iโ€™ve had was when we went to Chile for a tournament and we won the bronze medal in men’s doubles.

I believe badminton is ideal for children as it can fully use their skills in a fun and inclusive manner. Everybody can play this sport, whether they are at a competitive level or not.

Badminton has very little support in my community since they give importance to more famous sports. I would want our federation to take advantage of state resources and give more importance to the training of teachers and the promotion of badminton.

Nowadays more children and adolescents pursue their interest in badminton by training at clubs in various cities. Yet I believe there is a lot of work left fo rus to do to improve.

Shuttle Time has helped. There are training methods that are useful for different types of students. Not everyone can unquestioningly follow the manual. I learned to give each teacher the opportunity to create a new exercise or new methodology that benefits their students. Iโ€™d urge all teachers to be the authority in their classes to ensure that children learn the sport.
