Pan Am Players won medals at the HULIC DAIHATSU BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2022 held in Tokyo, Japan.
Giuliana Poveda and Rubi Fernandez are the World Champions in Women’s Doubles SH6.
Pilar Jauregui is the new World Champion in Women’s Singles WH2.
Vitor Tavares, Miles Krajewski, Nilton Quispe, Poveda and Jauregui also won silver medals.

Pilar Jauregui won the gold medal at the World Championships 2022 after showing great level of game. Jauregui started the tournament as seeded 3/4 being one of the favourites and leading the WH2 Group D after defeating players from India and England. Pilar defeated Jung Gyeoul (KOR) in Quarter-Finals , the seeded 2, Yuma Yamazaki (JPN) in Semifinals and Emine Seckin (TUR) in the final to reach the crown.
Jauregui also won a silver medal in Mixed Doubles WH1-WH2 along with Yuri Ferrigno (ITA) after losing in the final against Choi Jungman and Lee Sun Ae (KOR).
Giuliana Poveda and Rubi Fernandez reached the podium top in WD SH6 (featured image) after defeating duos from Hong Kong China, Argentina/Peru, Thailand/India, India and the seeded one duo Bujnicka/Zsmigiel (POL) in the final.
Poveda also was the defeding champion of the Singles title and started the championships with victories against players from Argentina, Thailand, England and Poland but despite a great performance she lost in the final against Rina Marlina (INA) reaching the silver medal in WS WH6.
Nilton Quispe and Giuliana won a silver medal in Mixed Doubles SH6 after defeating players from Hong Kong China, Canada/Polonia, Peru and India to reach the final but losing against Subhan/Marlina (INA).
Miles Krajewski and Vitor Tavares reached the silver medal in Men’s Doubles SH6. The Pan Am duo led the Group C after defeating duos from Peru, India and England/Ireland to reach the Quarter-Finals. There, Krajewski and Tavares defeated an Indian duo to reach the Semifinales where they defeated seeded 2 duo Morat/Noakes from France. In the Final, the Pan Am duo lost against Daesung (KOR) and Meechai (THA) in a 3-games-match.
Brazilian Para badminton Star, Tavares, also won a bronze medal in Singles. He started the competition as seeded 3/4 leading the Group C after defeating players from India and USA. Vitor defeated Wyatt Lightfoot (CAN) and Charles Noakes (FRA) to reach Semifinals where he lost against seeded 1, Jack Shephard (ENG).
The HULIC DAIHATSU BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2022 also had a great participation of Pan Am players from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, United States and Venezuela who now are preparing for the Pan Am Para badminton Championships 2022 which will be held in Cali, Colombia next weeks.
