Winners in Egypt – Para badminton

Pan Am Para badminton athletes from Brazil, Canada and Colombia won medals at the Egypt Para badminton International 2024, first Para badminton International competition of the year, held in El Cairo, from January 23 to 28.

Adrianne Spinneti (BRA), bronze medalist at Santiago 2023, won the silver medal in WS SL3 after starting the competition as seeded 1 and defeated players from Egypt and Uganda. Adriane also reached a bronze medal in Mixed Doubles SL3-SU5 along with Rahul Vilma (IND).

Auricelia Nunes (BRA) reached a silver medal in WS WH1 after defeating players from Finland, Egypt, Uganda and India to reach the final. She also got a bronze medal along with Maria Gilda Dos Santos in WD WH1-WH2.

Parapan Am Games champion, Marcelo Alves, managed to reach a silver and a bronze medal in this event. In Mixed Doubles, he won a silver medal along with Mischa ginns (AUS), while in MS WH1, Marcelo got the bronze after defeating players from Italy, India and Australia but lost in Semifinals against Prem Kumar (IND).

Diana Leon (COL) won a silver medal in WD SL3-SU5 along with Rosa De Marco (ITA). While William Roussy (CAN) won 2 bronze medals. The first one in MS SL3 after defeating players from India, Czech Republic and Cameroon. The other bronze medal was in MD SL3-SL4 along with Pascal Lapointe.

Our Pan Am Para badminton athletes will continue their preparation for the World Championships which will be held in February.
