The Men’s Doubles event delivered high-level action but ultimately belonged to USA’s Presley Smith and Chen Zhi Yi, who showcased complete dominance on their way to the gold medal at the XXIX YONEX Pan Am Individual Championships 2026, securing their third consecutive title and confirming their status as the pair to beat in the region.
The USA duo opened their campaign with a solid victory over the Dominican pair Yonathan Linares and Anderson Taveras (21-8, 21-10), setting the tone early. In the quarterfinals, they faced a stronger challenge from Canada’s Daniel Leung and Nyl Yakura, but their composure and tactical control proved decisive (21-18, 21-13).
In the semifinals, Smith and Chen overcame Brazil’s Fabrício Farias and Davi Silva, a familiar and competitive matchup. After taking the first game comfortably, they held firm in a tighter second to advance to the final (21-12, 21-18).
The gold medal match saw them face Canada’s Kevin Lee and Ty Lindeman in what promised to be a closely contested battle. However, the Americans imposed their rhythm from the outset, delivering one of the most commanding performances of the tournament. In just 23 minutes, Smith and Chen sealed the title in straight games (21-13, 21-8).

With three consecutive titles, Presley Smith and Chen Zhi Yi continue to elevate their level, combining precision, consistency, and competitive maturity to remain among the leading men’s doubles pairs in the Americas.
