Shining in Canada – Para badminton

Pan Am Para badminton Players shined at the YONEX Canada International 2022, Para badminton level 1 event held in Ottawa, Canada, from June 8 to 12, with participation of outstanding Para badminton players from around the world.

World Champion Giuliana Poveda (PER) continues to reign in her category. Poveda got the crown in Women’s Singles after defeating players from Chinese Taipei, Ukraine and England. In Mixed Doubles, Giuliana won the silver along with Jack Shephard (ENG).

The brazilian star Vitor Tavares also shined in this event when he reached the finals in Men’s Singles and won the silver medal. Vitor defeated players from Canada, Japan and England to led the Group B, and got the victory against Wong Chun Yim (HKG) in semifinals but lost against Jack Shephard (ENG) in the gold medal match.

Paralympian Pilar Jauregui won the gold in Women’s Singles WH1+WH2 category after defeating Man-Kei To and in Mixed Doubles aling with Yuri Ferrigno (ITA).

Pedro Pablo De Vinatea and Renzo Bances reached a silver medal in Men’s Doubles SL3-SL4. The peruvian duo defeated canadians Pascal Lapointe/Willian Roussy but losing against duos from India and France, reaching the second place of this event.

Justin Kendrick/Wyatt Lightfoot (CAN) won the silver medal in MD SH6 after losing the final match against Fabien Morat and Charles Noakes from France.

Para badminton players from our region will continue training for the next events around the world and for our Pan Am Para badminton Championships 2022 that will be held in Colombia next November.
