As a child, I was dedicated to my studies and from a very young age I started playing sports, especially baseball. Growing up, I was interested in being able to teach others.
I became a national softball player and then coach of the national women’s softball team. However, due to some reasons, I had to leave softball. The architect Raul Anguiano gave me a job in badminton where I was trained by Jose Maria Solis. I then started working with children.

The first time I saw badminton was at school, when a classmate of Chinese origin brought a racket to school, and he explained the sport to us.
I saw badminton as a sport for the first time in 2003, when I started working for the national federation. When I arrived, I saw the players training, and it impressed me to see and learn about this sport.

From the moment I started working in the federation, I had the opportunity to work with children, and at the same time continue learning. In 2007, Raul Anguiano gave me the opportunity to take an umpire course. The next year, during the Pan Am Junior Championships I was at match control, learning to manage the tournament programme. I then got accredited as a Referee. I also did a Shuttle Time course, and since then Iโ€™ve worked as a Shuttle Time Tutor.

Among the many special events was the Pan Am Junior Championships held in Jamaica. It was my first event managing the tournament programme, and being in charge of setting up the courts.
I participated in two Para badminton championships, in one at the control table and in another as a coach. These events made a strong impression on me and made me see my life in a different way.

While training children during courses, I observed that people are interested in learning something new, which motivates them to continue learning and developing it in the places they go.

The Shuttle Time programme in my region has made many more people know about badminton, especially children of school-going age, through exhibitions held in schools nationwide, and also through other activations.
The most important thing I learnt from Shuttle Time is to engage with people from different social classes. It doesn’t matter if they donโ€™t have access to the right conditions; they will still practice and teach badminton.
