Para Badminton Debut – Parapan Am Games 2019

Tomorrow, Para badminton will start at Lima 2019, so let’s review 10 things you need to know about the first participation of Para badminton in a Parapan Am Games edition:

1. When will the Para badminton competition develop?
The Para badminton competition will start on August 29 with Group Stages, and will have the Finals on August 31 and September 1st.

2. Where will Para badminton will played?
Para badminton Competition will be held at Sport Center 3 in Sport National Village, in San Luis, Lima, Peru.

3. Which countries will be represented?
11 countries will be represented at Parapan Am Games 2019: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, United States, Venezuela and host Peru.

4. Which players will compete?
At the end of July the players were registered according to the BWF Ranking that defined the qualified athletes.

Draws were made during the Team Managers Meeting held on August 28, according the Badminton Competition Manual.

7. Is the very first time of Para badminton at Parapan Am Games?
Yes, Para badminton has been included at Paralympic programme for Tokyo 2020 and also for Parapan Am Games 2019 for first time in the history of our sport. But not all events are included for the Olympic Games but, maybe, very soon we will have paralympic champions in our region.

8. So, Parapan Am Games2019 winners will qualify directly to the Paralympic Games 2020?
No, for Para badminton Paralympic Qualification is necessary to add points at the BWF Ranking and this Parapan Am Games will help our athletes in the Qualifying Road.

We can follow the tournament in all Badminton Pan Am Social Networks: Website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And some cuontries have live broadcast of Lima 2019.
