Pan Am Players Shining in Spain

Pan Am Para badminton Players took the podiums of the Spanish Para badminton International II 2022, Para badminton International Level 2 event that was held in Vitoria, Spain from March 1st to 6th.

SH6 World Champion, Giuliana Poveda won the gold in Women’s Doubles with Rubi Fernandez. The peruvian duo defeated players from India/Chinese Taipei, Poland, Russia and England/Egypt to reach the podium top.

Poveda also won a silver medal in Singles after defeating players from Russia, Poland and Peru, but losing in the final against Nithya Sre Sumathy Sivan from India. In this event, Rubi Fernandez got the bronze after defeating players from England, Russia and Poland but losing in Semifinals against Giuliana.

Jesus Salva and Rubi Fernandez won a bronze medal in Mixed Doubles. They defeated duos from Canada/Chinese Taipei, Spain/Egypt and France/Poland but losing in the final against Krishna Nagar and Nithya Sumathy from India. Giuliana Poveda and Nilton Quispe got the bronze.

Brazil’s star, Vitor Tavares won the silver medal in Singles showing a great performance. He defeated players from Spain, India, Peru and England to reach the final where he lost against Krishna Nagar (IND) in a 3-games-match 24-26, 21-17, 21-19.

Pilar Jauregui won 3 silver medals. In Singles she defeated players from Austria, Russia and Egypt. Along with Yuka Chokyu (CAN) played the WD WH1-WH2 as an exhibition event, defeating duos from Russia/India and Austria/Switzerland to reach the second place. In Mixed Doubles, Jauregui played with Yuri Ferrigno and both managed to win the silver medal after defeating duos from Russia/India, Canada and Spain/Austria.

Mikhail Bilenki, Justin Kendrick,  Emilien Langelier and William Roussy from Canada, Rodolfo Cano and Julio Cesar Godoy from Brazil, Albert Puente, Diana Rojas, Gerson Vargas, Jenny Ventocilla, Renzo Bances and  Pedro Pablo De Vinatea from Peru, and Jean Paul Ortiz and Jorge Moreno from Colombia also competed in this event showing good performances.

Pan Am Para badminton players will compete also this week at the Iberdrola Spanish Para badminton International 2022, level 1 event, in Cartagena Spain.
