Pan Am Para Badminton Athletes Shined in Denmark

Our Para badminton players from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Peru and United States took the podiums at Victor Denmark Para badminton International 2019, held in Odense, Denmark, from October 15 to 20.

SS6 Pan Am players Jesus Salva (PER), Miles Karejwski (USA) and Wyatt Lightfoot (CAN) won bronze medals in Doubles. Salva and Alexander Mekhdiev (RUS) led Group A with 2 victories and reached semifinals where they lost against french duo Morat/Noakes, while Krajewski and Lightfoot also reached semifinals after winning Group C.

Parapan Am Games 2019 champion, Vitor Tavares got a bronze in Singles SS6. Brazil’s star reached semifinals after good victories against players from Netherlands, Serbia, Denmark and Malaysia but losing with seeded one, Jack Shepard (ENG).

WH 1-WH 2 Mixed Doubles podium had Pan American presence. Parapan Am Games gold medalists Marcelo Alves and Pilar Jauregui won silver and bronze medal respectly. Alves compited with Man-Kei To (BEL) and reached the final match losing against Olgiathi/MAthez (SUI), while Jauregui got third place with Yuri Ferrigno (ITA).

Athletes from Argentina also reached podiums. Micaela De Jesus got silver medal in Mixed Doubles SS6 with Nagar Krishna (IND) and bronze in Women’s Doubles with Rocio Benitez.

Our Para badminton athletes are on good way, they will continue to seek experience and adding points in search of qualification to the Paralympic Games 2020 where Para badminton will be included for the first time.
