Marcelo Alves Conceicao cemented his legacy as a continental great in his sport, capturing his fifth consecutive WH1 men’s singles title at Pan Am Para Badminton Championships 2025 on home ground in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Conceicao, whose first triumph came in Havana, Cuba in 2014, overcame compatriot Arthur Terencio Dias in a thrilling final, rallying from a game down to win 20-22 21-10 21-11.

He wasn’t done there – Conceicao teamed up with Julio Cesar Godoy to retain the WH1–WH2 men’s doubles crown, defeating Dias and Victor Rocha Amorim 25-23 21-12. The pair successfully defended the titles they previously claimed in Cali (2022) and Lima (2018).

Peru’s Pilar Jauregui continued her dominance as well, lifting the WH2 women’s singles trophy for the fourth straight edition.

Other two-time defending champions to extend their streak were Miles Krajewski/Vitor Tavares (SH6 men’s doubles) and Giuliana Poveda (SH6 women’s singles).

With 11 gold medals, hosts Brazil emerged the overall champions, finishing comfortably ahead of Peru (six gold). Canada secured four titles, while USA claimed three. Mexico and Chile rounded out the winners’ list with one gold each.
