Iโ€™ve played sport since I was five and thatโ€™s why I became a physical education teacher. Sport taught me to share with people regardless of age, gender or religious beliefs. Since I was a girl I liked everything about sports.

I saw badminton when it was taught at a course in university during my PE studies. It was a four-month course and from that time I fell in love with badminton. I worked as line judge and referee at a tournament. Later, I started working with the federation as an initiation coach, teaching children from 4 to 13.
What impressed me about badminton was the speed of the shuttlecock and the technical movement.

Nowadays I am the Shuttle Time coordinator and through the federation I do promotional activities and teach badminton in schools. I want to train new teachers to make badminton better known in Guatemala.
I am passionate about this sport. I want to continue working so that the schools and universities of my country know more about badminton. Iโ€™d also like to train more teachers.

Since 2015, Iโ€™ve taught badminton in public schools. Iโ€™ve seen that there are several challenges but these are being overcome. The greatest difficulty is availability of material (rackets and shuttlecocks); equipment is scarce and prices are high. However, with the help of coaches, training is held in ten schools every year.
Badminton gave me many experiences. In this process of development and promotion of badminton I have been able to know that in each school we always find talent and the greatest satisfaction is to see them training in the federation.
We publicise our activities on social media and conduct badminton exhibitions, besides training new teachers.
Badminton is a sport that generates fun and happiness in students. It’s a sport that many want to learn because itโ€™s new and different.
For the growth of badminton is important that schools and universities include badminton in their PE curriculum.
