Following the successful conclusion of the Pan Am AirBadminton Junior Cup 2026, João Pessoa, Brazil, became the host of the first-ever BWF–BPAC AirBadminton Training Camp, marking another milestone in the development of AirBadminton across the Americas.
Held on July 28–29 at Cabo Branco Clube, the pilot initiative brought together 12 athletes and five coaches representing five Badminton Pan Am Member Associations. The two-day camp provided participants with an opportunity to further develop their technical, tactical, and physical understanding of AirBadminton while fostering collaboration among the region’s emerging talents.
The camp was led by Vincent Wong (Hong Kong, China), who delivered four on-court training sessions focused on the unique demands of the discipline. Coaches also participated in two educational workshops covering coaching methodologies, athlete development, and strategies to expand AirBadminton within their respective Member Associations. The program encouraged the exchange of ideas and experiences, creating a collaborative learning environment both on and off the court.
The event was honored by the presence of Sahir Edoo, BWF Head of Development Projects, and Fern Gilders, BWF Head of Tournament Development, whose participation underscored the Badminton World Federation’s commitment to supporting the global growth of AirBadminton. Throughout the camp, both officials engaged with athletes and coaches, reinforcing the value of education, innovation, and international cooperation in the continued development of the sport.
As the first AirBadminton training camp organized jointly by the BWF and Badminton Pan Am, the initiative represented an important step in expanding opportunities for athletes and coaches throughout the continent. Building on the momentum generated by the Continental Championships, the camp demonstrated the potential of AirBadminton to continue growing across the Americas through education, collaboration, and sustained investment in development programs.
