From June 2β4, 2026, eleven coaches from Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru, and Argentina gathered at the Brazilian Paralympic Training Center for the BWF Disability Workshop Level 2, an important step in strengthening Para badminton coaching across the Pan American region.
The workshop was delivered by BWF Tutors Dina Abouzeid and Ian Bridge, who guided participants through a comprehensive program combining classroom sessions, practical activities, and collaborative discussions. Coaches explored advanced methodologies and shared experiences aimed at enhancing athlete development and performance.
Building on the foundations of the BWF Coach Education Level 2 curriculum, the workshop introduced specialized Para badminton content covering technical and tactical preparation, physical conditioning, performance analysis, long-term athlete development, and training planning for athletes with disabilities. Participants also deepened their understanding of Para badminton sport classifications and inclusive coaching practices.
A central theme throughout the workshop was the BWF philosophy of βOne Sport β One Team,β emphasizing that effective coaching principles apply to all athletes while recognizing the importance of adapting training environments, communication, and methodologies to individual needs.
By investing in coach education and knowledge sharing, the workshop contributes to the continued growth of Para badminton in the Americas, helping create stronger development pathways for athletes and supporting future success at both national and international levels.
