Badminton Pan America

Pan Am Junior players from United States, Mexico, Peru and Brazil took the podiums of our XXIX Pan Am Junior Championships 2021 – Individual Event, held in Acapulco, Mexico, from July 19 to 23.

After 5 days of tough competition, the best junior players got on the podiums of each event, reaching the following for their countries:

These results are in addition to the medals that the USA, Brazil and Mexico won during the team event.

In U19 category, Allison Lee and Francesca Corbet confirmed why they got the podium in our last Pan Am senior championships (held on April 2021) and won the crown in WD during this Pan Am Junior 2021. Lee also repeated the gold in XD with Joshua Yuan. Ryan Ma and Don Averia gave us a great MS final in which Ma won the gold after a tough match. Vanessa Garcia (MEX) won the silver medal in WS and the bronze in WD with Valeria Ornelas.

Fernanda Munar surprised in U17 category where she won the gold after defeating her sister, Rafaela Munar, in the WS final. This podium being the only one that was not led by USA. Munar sisters also won the silver in WD. Roberth Shekhtman won the gold in MS.

U15 category was controlled by USA players who won all gold and silver medals. Same happens in U13, where Mexico won 1 silver in MD with Fernando Martinez & Rodriguez Sanches.

The medals ceremony was led by Mr. Zarko Cukic, BPAC Deputy Chair of Events, Mr. Javier Orozco, President of Mexico Badminton Associations, and a representative of Guerrero’s Sports Institute.

During this ceremony, the organization recognized our Referees of the event: Mr. Trevor McCain and Ms. Dania Ramos, also to our BPAC Umpire Assesor, Mr. Kelvin Martin.

And a special recognition was gave to Gerardo Castillo, Para badminton player and line judge during this Pan Am Junior 2021, who showed dedication and passion for our sport.
