Champions of the Pan Am 2023

Pan Am Players from Brazil, Canada, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and United States won Pan Am Medalas at the XXVI YONEX Pan Am Individual Championships 2023, held in Jamaica, from April 26 to 29.

Michelle Li won ther 6th Pan Am Championships title in a repeat of last year’s final, defeating Beiwen Zhang by 21-19, 21-9. Lauren Lam and Iris Wang reached the Semifinals and the bronze medals.

Men’s singles favourite Brian Yang proved too strong for Uriel Canjura, who is the first finalist from El Salvador. Yang reached his second Pan Am Championships crown. Ygor Coelho and Kevin Cordon won the bronze medals of the event.

Joshua Hurlburt-Yu and Rachel Honderich won the Mixed Doubles gold after defeating seeded 1 duo, Ty Lindeman/Josephine Wu, in the final, which gave Honderich her seventh title and Hurlburt-Yu his third. Brazilians climb to this podium in the 3/4 positions with Fabricio Farias/Jaqueline Lima and Davi Silva/Sania Lima.

Catherine Choi/ Josephine Wu defeated Allison Lee/Francesca Corbett to win the gold medal of Women’s Doubles reaching Wu’s seventh overall title and Choi’s first. Haramara Gaitan/Sabrina Solis and Annie Xu/Kerry Xu won the bronze medals.

The men’s doubles, between top seeds Adam Dong/Nyl Yakura and second seeds Kevin Lee/Ty Alexander Lindeman was the last match of the day. The second seeds trailed through most of the third but shot ahead with five straight points and held two match points at 20-18. Adam/Yakura however held their ground and took the match 21-10, 16-21, 22-20 in 58 minutes. The 3/4 places were for Chen Zhi Yi/Presley Smith and Vinson Chiu/Joshua Yuan from USA.
