I grew up in a neighbourhood of Neuquen called Sapere, where the social condition is very low, but with enterprising and hardworking families, with a total of around 3500 people. The province of Neuquen is located in the Patagonian region, in the south of Argentina.

While starting school I started sports at a recreational and social level with handball and volleyball. I competed at the provincial level in these two sports, and I made many friends with every match I played.

I was always into sport. Unfortunately during those growing-up years I lost three friends to drugs, alcohol and delinquency. In my case my familyโ€™s support helped me become the person I am today

I first saw badminton time on television, it was the Olympic Games in Barcelona 1992. Later, in 2008 at a club called in my city of Neuquen in 2008 in a club called Atletico Neuquen, I had the opportunity to play it for the first time. I was then 35. When I was invited to play it I was told it was a weird sport played by โ€œcrazy peopleโ€, but I told them Iโ€™d seen how it is played. I was practising racket sports such as tennis and squash and paddle. Today, at 49, I am still in love with badminton.

Itโ€™s a beautiful relationship in terms of practice and playing. It gives me great satisfaction just thinking about the game, the adrenaline and fatigue it generates in every point you play. I realised I like to show and teach people this sport. Among the boys it attracts attention and fun. In adults, especially those who have never played a sport, it generates doubts or fears at first, but after taking classes they feel happy. I always say that badminton is an easy sport to learn, fun and can be shared with family and friends of all ages and genders.

It is a sport that does not lead to violence and integrates all people, children and adults, of all genders, and cultivates a sense of belonging to a group.

The most memorable events were the first training sessions and tournaments I participated in. We are close to cities in Chile, where this sport is practiced and played in most schools. One of my first tournaments was in the city of Con Con, where I did not win a match and yet made a lot of great friends. Our first international training was with German Valdez who came to our city in December 2011 and then in March 2012 participated in a Shuttle Time course delivered by the tutor Jie Meng and I was able to pass the Shuttle Time Tutor course. I attended the Pan Am Junior tournament in Edmonton in July 2012. All these moments led me to know other cities, countries and people from different cultures.

It makes a difference when a Shuttle Time presentation is made in schools and in social events of a large number of people, such as on the anniversary of cities or national days, also at badminton schools. Everyone has fun and there are no moments of verbal or physical aggression.

The modules 3 and 5 are fun, and provide material so that teachers or instructors can motivate each of the children to practice our sport.
