Ygor Coelho Making History – Pan Am Games 2019

Ygor Coelho won Brazils very first gold medal at Pan Am Games Badminton competition during the XVIII Pan Am Games 2019 held in Lima, Peru.

Coelho defeated Brian Yang in the Final match by 21-19 and 21-10 reaching the Lima 2019 crown and his first medal at Pan Am Games.

Seeded one, Coelho, started the competition with victories against Uriel Canjura (ESA) and Leodannis Martinez (CUB) in preliminary rounds, Also, Brazilian star defeated Timothy Lam in Quarterfinals and Jason Ho-Shue in Semifinals, reaching the final and winning it.

Brian Yang won the silver medal in his first time at Pan Am Games. This achievement adds to the different titles he has achieved in his still short career, such as the gold medal at Pan Am Junior Championship 2019 last july.

Kevin Cordon, Pan Am Games Champion in Toronto 2015, and Jason Ho-Shue, champion in Men’s Doubles, won the bronze medals.

Our Pan Am Athletes added importants points for the Road to Tokyo 2020 Ranking and are more close to the big dream: the Olympic Games.
