Road to Lima 2019: Ranking-January

A few weeks to the close of the qualification period for Pan Am Games Lima 2019, and to know the quota number that each country will have in this important event, the Pan American Ranking has been modified thanks to the participation of our athletes in various events at the end of the 2018.

The participation of these teams in the next Pan Am Team 2019 will add important points to determine the final quotas for Lima 2019.

If the BWF Ranking of the last week will decide the qualification for Lima 2019, CanadaUSA, Brazil and host Peru would have 8 quotas. CubaGuatemala, Mexico and Dominican Republic would have 6 quotas, and Barbados, Jamaica, Chile and Suriname would have 4 quotas.

In this way, we note that Canada remains at the top of the Ranking, along with the United States. Brazil climbed one position and would have more quotas, while Cuba is fourth, losing a location and reducing the number of quotas. Guatemala added many points and with Mexico hold the 6 quotas, but the Dominican Republic made its effort and climbed positions to get more participation in the Pan Am Games.

As we know, there will be a maximum number of Forty-Four (44) Female athletes and Forty-Four (44) Male athletes in Badminton competition. And Peru (Host Country) has 8 quotas (4 men and 4 women).

Country ranking is determined by adding up the points of the highest ranked player/team from each country in the Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles (a maximum total from the five rankings) using the February 26 (week #9), 2019 BWF World Ranking. The higher the number of total points, the higher the country ranking.
