In the framework of the XXVII YONEX Pan Am Individual Championships 2024, which will be take place in Guatemala, from April 10 to 13, a Press Conference was held to announce the event to the local press.
The Press Conference was led by Mr. Guillermo Lopez, president of the Guatemala Badminton Federation, who share the main table with Mr. Jose Del Busto, BWF Council Member and BPAC Deputy President, outstanding Badminton athletes Michelle Li and Taymara Oropesa, Mr. German Valez, BPAC COO, and some local authorities.
Mr. Guillermo Lopez presented the event, explaining the relevance of this event in the Paris Qualification process, including the participating players and the challenge that this means for the host country.
Also, Mr. Jose Del Busto, on behalf of the confederation, congratulated the work of the national federation and the commitment to carry out this event.
“I congratulate the hard work of the federation. Prior to this championship, a training camp was held with the presence of various players from the region and also, in addition to the championship and the Pan Am Airbadminton Championship, training courses will be held for event managers and coaches. I thank the entire federation for everything they are doing for these events”
“For me it is always important to play in a Pan American championship. It’s always a good test to see where I am and I have won this event a few times but it is always difficult to keep the title.” said Michelle Li.
“This event is very important because it awards many points. I hope and wish to be able to match the bronze medal that I obtained in Santiago 2023 and with that result to be a little closer to qualifying for Paris 2024” referred Taymara Oropesa.
