CHAMPIONS – PAN AM TEAM 2022

Canada and USA are the champions of the Pan Am Male & Female Cup 2022, continental championships held in Acapulco, Mexico.

Canada Male Team showed their badminton level and won the cup after defeating USA (4-1) and Guatemala (5-0) in Group A and Mexico (3-1) in Semifinals. For the Final, they managed to win an exciting tie against Brazil (3-2), having BR Sankeerth as determinant in the Singles matches and solid duos to win the two doubles matches.

Mexico won the third place after a tough matches in the tie against USA. The local team won the three singles matches with an outstanding performance of the Lino Muñoz, Luis Montoya and Job Castillo to reach the podium.

The Male Event finalized as follow:

USA Female Team managed to raise the cup after leading the Group B defeating Mexico (5-0) and Brazil (5-0). Also, they faced Brazil in Semifinals and won 3-0 to qualify for the Final where they defeating seeded 1 Canada (3-0) showing a great performance in the singles matches. Lauren Lam, Jennie Gai and Natalie Chi.

Brazil reached the bronze medal after defeating Guatemala by 3-0, winning the three singles matches with participation of Jaqueline Lima, Samia Lima and Juliana Vieira.

The Female event finalized as follow:

The Award Ceremony was led by Mr. Vishu Tolan, President of Badminton Pan Am, who highlighted the effort and good game of the players, the dedication and responsability of the Local Organizing Committee and the commitment of the Technical Officials during this championships.

Mr. Javier Orozco, President of Mexico Badminton Association, received recognition for the work the Association did during the event, and Mr. Alejandro Lopez, Mr. Guillermo Roman, and Mr. Juan Pablo Fuentes as representatives of the different areas of work that this Association developed for the Pan Am Team 2022.
