Athletes from Brazil, Canada, Guatemala and Peru won the first Para badminton gold medals in Parapan Am Games history at Lima 2019.
Also, Para badminton players from Cuba, United States and Venezuela won medals at Parapan Am Games 2019.

The first Para badminton gold medal at Parapan Am Games was for Mikaela Almeida (BRA), who won all her matches in Women’s Singles SU5. Olivia Meier (CAN) and Laura Lanes (CUB) got the silver and bronze medals respectly.
Guatemala’s star
Raul Anguiano got one more Pan Am crown.Anguiano reached the podium top after defeating
Rogerio De Oliveira (BRA) 21-16 and 21-12 in the final match.

The second gold medal for Brazil was reached by Marcelo Alves and Julio Cesar Godoy. They defeated Romulo Soares and Rodolfo Cano (BRA) 21-12 and 21-7 in the final. Richard Peter and Bernard Lapointe got the third place in Men’s Doubles WH1 – WH2.
Eduardo Oliveira also won a gold medal for his country. The brazilian defeated
Ricardo Cavalli, also from Brazil, in a 3-games match (21-16, 19-21 and 21-12). And the bronce medal of MS SU5 was for
Kleiber Mijares (VEN) who defeated Jean Paul Ortiz (COL) 21-11 and 21-6.
Pedro Pablo De Vinatea won the first gold for Peru. He won the MS SL3 final against
Leonardo Zuffo 21-11 and 21-3 winning the Parapan Am Games crown.
Rolando Bello from Cuba defeated
William Roussy (CAN) for the third place.
Canadian duo,
Pascal Lapointe and
Olivia Meier won a gold for Canada. They got victories in all their matches in XD SL3-SU5 reaching the podium top. Cuba’s duo
Rolando Bello and
Laura Lanes won the silver, and
Ricardo Cavali and
Abinaecia Da Silva got the bronze.
Vitor Tavares add one more gold medal for Brazil. Tavares and
Miles Krajewski (USA) compete in the SS6 final, and after a tough match the brazilian got the victory (21-18, 18-21 and 21-14).
Jesus Salva, from Peru, won the third place match against Wyatt Lightfoot (CAN) by 21-14, 14-21 and 21-9.
Pan Am Para badminton champion,
Pilar Jauregui, won the gold in WH2 after defeating
Yuka Chokyu (CAN) in the final by 21-12 and 21-1, giving the second gold for the host.
Daniele Souza also got a medal after winning the third place match against Maydelin Soriano (CUB).
Our athletes gave us exciting matches in the
Para badminton debut at Parapan Am Games. So, let’s remeber their names because they are making history being the very first Para badminton medalist in the history of
Parapan Am Games.
