Team Canada to The Top – Pan Am Junior 2018

After 5 matches, Canada managed to impose against host Brazil and lift the trophy of the first place in the XXVII Pan Am Junior Championships – Team Event, which is taking place in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil.

United States remained with the third place of the tournament after beating Chile 3-0, thus winning the bronze medal of the Team Event.

Brazil started winning the Final. Fabricio Farias won 2-1 (19-21 21-19 21-6) to Victor Lu in a close match. However, Katie Ho-Shue equaled the score by beating Sania Lima in straight games (21-14 and 21-17).

The Brazilian duo, Guimaraes / Mathias put Brazil back up after beating Feng / Lu by 21-15 and 22-20. in Women Doubles, Talia Ng and Wendy Zhang put the score 2-2 as they beat Samia Lima and Jaqueline Lima 21-13 and 21-15. Leaving the definition to the Mixed Doubles match.

The final match saw Stanley Feng and Crystal Lai beat Fabricio Farias and Jaqueline Lima (21-17 and 21-18) after 35 minutes of game and giving Canada the first place of the event.

The Award Ceremony was conducted by Mr. Vishu Tolan, BPAC president, and Francisco Ferraz, Badminton Brazil Confederation president.

Now, the Individual Event will be started from this July 22, where badminton players of categories U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19 will compete to get on the podium and keep growing as athletes.
