Job Castillo and Lino Muñoz (MEX) managed to advance to the Semifinals in Doubles, after defeating Jonathan Bing and Ty Lindeman (CAN) in three hard-fought games, 21-19, 17-21 and 23-21. Now they will face the number one American duo, Phillip Chew and Ryan Chew, who came to this instance after beating Cristian Araya and Ivan Leon (CHI) by 21-14 and 21-10.
In Women Doubles, Jennie Gai and Jamie Hsu (USA) will face Michelle Tong and Josephine Wu (CAN) for the pass to the Finals. American pair won in Quarterfinals to Daniela Macias and Danica Nishimura (PER) by 21-18 in both games.
Seeded 3, Brittney Tam (CAN) overtook Jaqueline Lima (BRA) by 21-15 and 21-16 and Talia Ng (CAN) by 21-15, 15-21 and 21-15, and will now face her compatriot Michelle Li , seeded 1, in Semifinals. On the other hand, the defending champion Rachel Honderich (CAN) will face Haramara Gaitan (MEX) for the pass to Finals.
Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon hopes to ‘make the house respected’ when he faces Jason Ho-Shue (CAN) this Saturday. Cordon passed Lino Muñoz (MEX) in Quarterfinals and hopes to add his fourth consecutive victory in the tournament. Osleni Guerrero (CUB) and Ygor Coelho (BRA) will face off in the other key.
Andres Lopez and Cynthia Gonzales (MEX) are the surprise in Mixed Doubles, after they beat the Americans duos Ricky Liuzhou / Angela Zhang and Ryan Chew / Ariel Lee. Now they will face Nyl Yakura and Kristen Tsai in the first match of Semifinals day.
