The second day of the Pan Am Team 2018 had amazing games like United States vs Jamaica, which ended with a 3-2 victory for the Americans, or Trinidad & Tobago vs Dominican Republic (0-5), where the host didn’t give up the points easily and fought until the end.
The Male Group A led by Canada, team that added its second consecutive victory when beating Barbados (5-0) in the 3rd round of the tournament. Peru managed to stay with the second place of the group after its victory against Barbados yesterday and qualified to Semifinals.
United States took the first place in Male Group B after beating, in a hard-fought serie, Jamaica, which finished second in the group. The first match was won by Sattawat Pongnairat (USA) after 3 intense games (18-21, 21-7 and 21-15), thus giving the first point for his team. Samuel Ricketts (JAM) matched the series by beating Calvin Li (USA) 21-19, 8-21 and 13-21. Jamaica also won the third singles match (Gareth Henry 2-1 Ricky Liuzhou) and got ahead in the series. In the first Doubles match, the United States showed its full potential with Phillip and Ryan Chew who defeated Dennis Coke and Anthony Mcnee (JAM) in two games. Finally, Liuzhou and Pongnairat (USA) won the last game 2-1 and sealed the American victory.
Also, for the Male Group B, Dominican Republic beat Trinidad & Tobago (5-0) and will play the match for the 5th place against Barbados. The 3 games of Singles and the 2 doubles showed a host team that played intensely and always remained close to the scoreboard.
On the Feminine side, the United States beat host Trinidad & Tobago in the last Group A match, thus qualifying to Semifinals along with Guatemala, second in the group. In addition, Canada beat Peru in the five games and classified to Semifinals as the first of Group B, while Peru also qualified to Semifinals in the second location of the group.
