Athletes from our region are competing at BWF TOTAL Badminton World Championships 2019 and BWF Total Para badminton World Championships 2019, that for first time in history are being held together, in Basel, Switzerland.

At Badminton World Championships 2019, players from Brazil, Canada, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and United States are competing in search of adding points in the Road to Tokyo 2020 Qualification Ranking.
After 2 days of competition, our Pan Am players showed a good game and will compete at Round 2 at Basel 2019.
Lino Muñoz won his first match against Gergely Krausz (HUN) in straight games (21-15, 21-16) and will face Kanta Tsuneyama (JPN) in Round 2 of MS competition.

Pan Am Games 2019 finalists, Jason Ho-Shue/Nyl Yakura and Phillip Chew/Ryan Chew are the duos that continue in competition. Canadians defeated Birker/Stipsits (AUT) in the first match by 21-15 in both games, and now will face seeded 2 duo, Li/Liu (CHN), while Chew brothers got a victory in first round against Leung/Wheller (AUS) and will face Hoki/Kobayashi (JPN) in next match.
Joshua Hurlburt-Yu and Josephine Wu reached the round 2 after defeating Magee/Magee (IRL) but they could not continue in competition since they lost with Chang/Goh (MAS) in a tight match (21-18, 19-21, 21-16).

Para badminton stars
Pan Am region are represented by outstanding players from Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Peru and United States at Para badminton World Championships that started on August 20 with a great performance of our athletes.
The championships started with Group Stage and will have the Finals on Sunday, August 25.
Canadian Players Yuka Chokyu, Pascal Lapointe and Olivia Meier started the tournament with a victories in their groups.
Also, Peru’s Pilar Jauregui and Giuliana Poveda won their first matches and will continue fighting for a place on the podium.
Marcelo Alves, Julio Cesar Godoy and Vitor Tavares, from Brazil, started with good performance and add their first victory in their categories.
USA athletes also add points in their groups. Ryan Gioffreda, Katherine Valli and Miles Krajewski won the first matches and are leading their groups.
