From February 15 to 18 the II Male & Female Continental Team Championships 2018 will take place in Trinidad and Tobago with the presence of the best badminton players from Barbados, Canada, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Jamaica, Peru, United States and the hosts: Trinidad and Tobago.
The National Racquet Center in Tacarigua will be the stage that will host this exciting event, which will allow winning teams to represent the Pan American Region at Thomas and Uber Cup 2018, tournaments that will be held in Thailand from May 20 to 27.
The II Male & Female Continental Team Championships 2018, organized by the Badminton Pan American Confederation and the Local Federation, will be held in two phases. First, the Group Stage, where the teams from each group will face each other in 5 matches: 3 singles and 2 doubles. The final stage will be defined by Knock-out system, where the winner will be the first to win 3 of the 5 games to be played in each series.
The men teams from Barbados, Canada, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Peru, United States and hosts Trinidad y Tobago will contest the championship looking for the quota to represent the Pan-American region in the 30th edition of the Thomas Cup, while the women teams of Canada, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Peru, United States and host Trinidad and Tobago will fight the classification to the 27th Uber Cup. 
The previous edition had the Male Team of Mexico as champion, while the United States won in the female event and will try to repeat the achievement.
Denmark and China are the defending champions of the Thomas and Uber Cup respectively, important events that are held every 2 years.
