“I feel good. Last year, I struggled with some injuries, but I think I’ve gradually got stronger. For this event, I think I’ve prepared quite well, so I’m excited to see how it goes and how I can perform. It means a lot to me when people are watching from our side of the world (Pan Am). I feel very blessed and grateful to have this opportunity to compete, and I hope I can inspire future generations.” said Michelle after her first match at the World Championships 2025.

Victor Lai from Canada also reached a good result on his debut at Parsis 2025. He defeated Edward Lau in straight games (21-13, 21-2) and will face Lu Guang Zu (CHN) in the round of 32 next Wednesday.

“This is my first world championship, and winning my first match means a lot to me. I hope to continue this momentum this year. I’m focused on winning the next round, and my goal is to take it step by step. Furthermore, I appreciate the support and hope we can all continue promoting Pan American badminton and show that we can compete with the rest of the world.” referred Victor Lai after his first victory at Paris 2025.

“Feels good. First world championship for us, so we just want to go on court and play hard every point. Today we had some French fans at the Coliseum for some reason, and they helped pump us up a little more. That always feels good when it happens. Thanks, everyone.” said Presley Smith after their first match in the competition.

Allison Lee and Lauren Lam (USA) defeated duo Kelly/Lado (ENG) by 21-13, 21-10 in her first match at Paris 2025, showing consistency and well level of game. The fresh duo (because they started playing together recently), will face Korean duo Kim/Kong for next round.

“The result was good for a confident coming in. We just want to do well, try our best, have fun, and enjoy the match. We did it so we focus on each match at the time, we’ll keep pushing. Furthermore, we are a very fresh pair, and I’m grateful for the team we now have. Thank you all for the support over the years, especially those in the Pan Am region, which has grown a lot, and fortunately, we have a lot of support. Thank you for always making time for us and following our careers; that means a lot to us.”

“It’s a unique experience to be able to participate in this World Cup. This is our fourth World Championship, and although it wasn’t the result we expected, with more training, we’ll achieve better results later on. It’s hard being away from our family. We train in a different place than where we live, and sometimes it’s very complicated, and we miss them, but we have to always stay calm, have a strong mentality, and focus on our goals. We dedicate this participation to our family, who always supports us, even when it’s 5 a.m. in Brazil, they’re awake watching our game and cheering for us.” said Jaqueline Lima and Samia Lima after her first match at Paris 2025.”

“We are very happy to be participating in this championship. Unfortunately, we debuted with a loss. We really wanted to win. We missed some opportunities to close out the game, but anyway, we are happy with our commitment to the game, and even losing, we fought until the end without giving up.
We’re proud of what we did. This is our first World Championship playing together, and we’ll continue to do better in upcoming tournaments.” – referred Fabricio Farias sand Davi Silva (BRA).

“We’re very happy to be here, participating in this world championship. Badminton in Guatemala has grown significantly due to the results we’ve all achieved, and we want to encourage people to continue supporting us and practicing badminton, as it’s a very beautiful sport that opens up many opportunities. We motivate the next generation to set high goals, which is the way to reach these competitions.” – Jonathan Solis & Christopher Martinez (GUA)

“We would have liked a better result. It wasn’t our best game; we tried to adapt to the conditions, but I think the other team was better today. Obviously, we focus on doing well in every tournament, but there are other major tournaments coming up, like the 2027 Pan American Games and possibly the 2028 Olympic Games. We think about that, and in the process, we try to do our best in the different tournaments we compete in, like this one. We appreciate the support we receive from Pan Am. We’re definitely not the strongest region in badminton, but we always try to put Pan Am on the map and be a good role model for all the fans and the generations that follow us, who can also achieve success on the big stages.” — Kevin Lee and Ty Lindeman (CAN)

“I definitely think I’ve prepared much better compared to the world championships I’ve played in before, and although I’m pretty upset about losing, I think there’s still a lot to learn. Now I’m going to continue focusing on training and taking one match at a time instead of thinking about reaching a certain level. I think I need to learn how to have more confidence in myself instead of focusing on my opponent and how they play.” Wen Yu Zhang (CAN)
