Brazilian duo Fabricio Farias and Jaqueline Lima got a great victory defeating Ivancic/Polanc (SLO) in straight games (21-19, 21-14). 30 minutes were enough to secure the victory and now focus on the next round, where they will face the home team, Gicquel/Delrue, seeded 8, in one of the most exciting matches of the day.

“We feel very happy with the effort we put into the match. We did what we have to do to get this victory. The strategy is about staying focused, we talked a lot before the match so we can go in already focused and fired up.” – Fabricio and Jaqueline (BRA).

US star, Beiwen Zhang also got a victory in her first match at Paris 2025. She defeated Yasmine Hanza (ITA) 21-10, 21-13 and will face seeded 3 Han Yue (CHN).

“Nice to be back, but the first match was at a very windy court. It is a bit hard for the star but it is pretty good. I am pretty happy right now to play some tournaments. Hopefully fans will enjoy that pan am players are getting good results, now we are getting so much stronger.” – Beiwen Zhang (USA)

Juliana Vieira (BRA) continues to demonstrate her high level of play, defeating Keisha Azzahra (AZE) in straight games (21-16, 21-14). The Brazilian will face Putri Wardani (INA), seeded 9th in this event.

“I am very happy to debut with a victory, it’s important for my professional career. In my last World Championship in Denmark, I also debuted with a victory, so it is super significant to keep the (ranking) points and to start this high level event on the right foot. I’m very happy to play at this high level with the best athletes from all over the world. The mental preparation was the most difficult part. During this time I was in Asuncion 2025 where I got gold and silver, so I am fine physically, but I think the mental part also has to be well worked.” – Juliana Viana Vieira (BRA).

On the third competition day, Ishika Jaiswal, Juliana Vieira, Fabricio Farias/Jaqueline Lima, Michelle Li, Victor Lai, Chen Zhi Yi/Presley Smith, Beiwen Zhang, and Allison Lee/Lauren Lam, will represent our region in Round of 32 for every event.

“We were tied in the second game and I was overcome with emotion. I wanted to pick up the pace and made some mistakes that I shouldn’t have made. Today my opponent (Vitidsarn) pushed hard; he has a very high rhythm. His shots are precise, and that’s why he’s an Olympic runner-up. It was going to be difficult to play him, but I had to try.” – Uriel Canjura (ESA) who faced MS seeded 3 Kunlavut Vitidsarn (THA).

“I knew my opponent had a very good attack. Today I didn’t feel very strong on the court, but I changed my mentality to fight for every point even though I wasn’t having my best day. I was able to come back and win a game, and I almost won the third as well. It’s my first time at a World championship. I’m quite happy to have had a good, long match, and I’m looking to have matches like that in the future.” – Adriano Viale (PER) after losing his match against Kim Byung Jae (KOR).

“I’m not very happy about the match because I think I made a lot of mistakes and could have played much better. On the other hand, I’m happy to have played against the second-best player in the world and to have learned that there are things I don’t have and that I need to keep working on.
I entered the game very nervous, very tense, but that’s how it is; that’s the sport, and I think it was another step toward achieving my dreams and goals.” – Jonathan Matias (BRA)who faced MS seeded 2, Anders Antonsen (DEN).
