USA won the Semifinals and will face the defending champion, Canada, seeking the Pan American Cup.
Team Canada defeated Cuba and and concentrates on winning the gold one more time.
Tomorrow we will know the winner of the Pan American Cup after the Final Match of the XXIII Pan Am Mixed Team Championships 2019, between USA and Canada.
Our Youth Olympic player, Jennie Gai, won her 2 matches (Singles and Doubles with Kuei-Ya Chen) and the Phillip Chew sealed the hard victory (3-2) against Brazil winning the Men’s Doubles match.
“We were not the favorites in the tie because we came with some young players and this is their first time in a Pan Am Team Championship, but we are improving and we are very happy to reach the final stage tomorrow against Canada”, refered the Olympic Athlete, Phillip Chew.
For One More Crown
Canada won in 3 straigth maches against Cuba, showing the high level and the goal they want to reach. Brian Yang sealed the victory in Men’s Singles match beating the Cuban stars Osleni Guerrero in a tight match (2-1).
“Cuba is a very strong team and I was not expecting to win Osleni. He has a powerful smash and I tried to control it and I was able to win. Now, we know that USA is a good team and we will do our best to win the gold”, said the Youth Olympic Players, Brian Yang.
Bronze secured
After the stumble in semifinals, Brazil raise the head and secured the Bronze medal with the victory against Cuba (3-0). Arthur Pomoceno, Lohaynny Vicente and Farias/Farias won the matches and give to Brazil the third place of the tournament.
Mexico and Guatemala also won today against Peru and Dominican Republic respectively, securing the places 5th and 7th.
