Champions in Mexico – Pan Am Circuit 2025

Pan Am players from Brazil, Canada, Guatemala, and United States of America won medals at the V Mexican International Challenge 2025, Pan Am Circuit event held in Guadalajara, Mexico, from May 7 to 11.

Mark Shelley Alcala (USA) won the MS crown after defeating Garret Tan (USA) in straight games (15-13, 15-7). In previous rounds he defeated players from Mexico, Canada, Croatia, and Japan to reach the final match. Joshua Nguyen (CAN) got bronze medal along with Nagafuchi (JPN).

Davi Silva and Sania Lima won the silver medal in Mixed Doubles after tough matches since first round. They got good victories against pairs from Mexico, Canada, and Guatemala (seeded 1) but lost in the final against Koga/Imai (JPN) in a 3-games-match (8-15, 15-9, 9-15). Christopher Martinez/Diana Corleto (GUA) and Arthur Lee/Katelin Ngo (USA) reached 3/4 places in this event.

Ishika Jaiswal (USA), seeded 1 in WS, reached the bronze medal after defeating players from Japan, Peru, and United States to reach semifinals where she lost against Masuki (JPN) who finally won the gold medal. Ebihara (JPN) got the silver and Iwaki (JPN) join Jaiswal on the 3/4 place of the WS event.

Japanese duos dominated WD and MD podiums. Osawa/Tanabe won gold, Hatasue/Sugiyama got silver and Iwaiki/Yairo and Muroya/Takahashi reached bronze in WD, while in MD Kawabe/Matsukawa won gold, Inoue/Kida got silver and Kawashima/Koga and Geiss/Jansen (GER) reached the bronze medals.

The V Mexican International Challenge 2025 was one of the test events for the new scoring system developed by BWF, with a 15 points games. The Pan Am Circuit 2025 will continue with the Guarani Open 2025 in early June.
