Action Began – Pan Am 2018: Day 1

Guatemala is witnessing the best of the Pan-American badminton at the XXII Pan Am Individual Championships 2018, held at the Teodoro Palacios Flores Arena.

The first competition day began with exciting encounters where, among the highlights, the youth athlete from Brazil, Fabricio Farias defeated Diego Mini (PER) by 21-15, 21-19, and Ivan León (CHI) by 21-8, 21-11, will now face the defending champion, Ygor Coelho (BRA), who beat Yeison Del Cid (GUA) by 21-9 and 21-9.

Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon had no problems in his first match and beat Kyle Munoz (PAN) 21-7 and 21-5, now will face Bjorn Seguin (USA) to continue advancing in the tournament.

Cuban star, Osleni Guerrero, beat Guatemalan young promise Christopher Martinez 27-25 and 21-17 after 35 intense minutes of play, and will now face his compatriot Ernesto Reyes for the quarter-final pass.

In the women’s field, Michelle Li and Rachel Honderich stand firm on their way to the podium, after beating Daniela Matamoros (ESA) and Mariana Paiz (GUA) respectively. In addition, Daniela Macías (PER) won in her first match and will face the Brazilian Fabiana Silva for the pass to Quarterfinals. Also, Jamie Hsu (USA) will do the same to her compatriot Jennie Gai, both won their first matches against Maria Delia Zambrano (ECU) and Lauren Villalobos (CRC) respectively.

The best of Pan-American badminton continues in the XXII Pan Am Individual Championships 2018, very soon we will meet the new Pan-American champions.
