Outstanding athletes from our region took podiums at international tournaments around the world.
Michelle Li defended her title at Macau Open 2019 and won the gold for second time in this event.
The Macau Open is a BWF World Tour Super 300 level tournament, featuring some of the top badminton players in the world!
Michelle faced China’s Yue Han in the women’s singles final. After a close first game (21-18) Michelle proved too much to handle as she dominated the second game (21-8) on her way to claiming her second Macau Open title.
Now, she will compete at Fuzhou China Open starting tomorrow, November 5th, and she will face Cheung from Hong Kong China in the first round.
This weekend, also canadian athletes took the podium of the 44th YONEX Hungarian International Challenge 2019, held in Hungary. Pan Am Games champions Rachel Honderich/Kristen Tsai won gold in WD, while Joshua Hurlburt-Yu/Josephine Wu in Mixed Doubles, Jason Ho-Shue and Brittney Tam in Singles won bronze medals. Peter Briggs and Hurltburt-Yu reached the second place in Men’s Doubles.
