For the Glory – Pan Am 2019

The XXIII Pan Am Individual Championships 2019 will have the best of Pan-American badminton. Champions of previous editions will once again seek glory. Let’s know more about players who will compete in Men’s Singles.

Pan Am Ranking number 1, Ygor Coelho, will seek the Pan-American crown for the third year in a row. Brazilian star trains in Europe and competes in the league of Denmark and the World Tour in search of his best level of play. Coelho has won the Pan-American Championship in 2017 and 2018, and hopes to add his third crown and ensure he is the favorite to win gold in the next Pan Am Games.

Guatemala’s star, Kevin Cordon will seek to return to the top of the Pan Am podium in this edition. Champion of the Pan-American Games in 2011 and 2015, Cordon has also won the gold in the Pan-American championships of 2009 and 2012, in addition to the crowns obtained in the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Osleni Guerrero will also look for his third Pan-American crown (2013-2014) and get a new gold medal for Cuba, but also has the Panamerican Games of July-August as his main goal and to continue promoting the future Cuban stars.

The local Lino Muñoz, Olympic player in Rio 2016, as Coelho, Cordon and Guerrero, will try to keep the crown at home. Muñoz has also had training periods in Europe and will seek to exhibit his best game to secure a medal for his country.

Another Olympic athlete who will compete in this edition is Howard Shu (USA), who recently won a gold medal in Uganda and will seek to return to the rhythm of the game that took him to Rio 2016.

To the Olympic players mentioned above is added Jason Ho-Shue (CAN), the first athlete to have won the Pan Am Junior and the Pan Am Individual Championships in consecutive years. Jason now dreams big and seeks to continue adding experience and points competing in the World Tour.

The XXIII Pan Am Individual Championships 2019 will be played from April 25th to 28th at the Gimnasio Olimpico de Ciudad Deportiva de Aguascalientes, Mexico.
