Towards The Podium – Pan Am Junior 2018

We already know the athletes who will be on the podium of the XXVII Pan Am Junior Championships 2018 – Individual Event, which is taking place in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil.

This July 25th, from 9am (local time), athletes from Canada, Mexico, Peru, USA and host Brazil will fight for the medals in each category.

The Quarterfinals were lived intensely at the Pan American Judo Center, venue of this tournament. Where the longest match was the one that faced Colin Jia (CAN) and Gustavo Salazar (PER) in the U17 category. One hour and 12 minutes of play determined Jia as a winner by 20-22, 21-19 and 21-10. Another outstanding match was one of Men’s Doubles U19, where Zheng / Tsai (USA) defeated Barrueto / Subauste (PER) after 3 hard-fought games (20-22, 21-13 and 21-15). Also, Mexico’s duo QuiƱones / Marquez played a great game against Troncoso / Torres (CHI), qualifying to Women’s Doubles Semifinals with a score of 21-17 and 21-6.

The little ones also shone on the field. Marcos Lima and Fhelipe Santos (BRA) beat Umesh Lescano and Marcelo Ruiz (PER) in an exciting match in the U11 category. Jeffrey Chang and Savanna Lee (USA) did the same on XD U13 against Michael Ji and Emily Jia (CAN).
