Peru finished strong at the Japan Para Badminton International 2026, with Pilar Jauregui winning two gold medals.
The Wheelchair (WH2) player partnered Malaysia’s Muhammad Ikhwan Ramli to the mixed doubles (WH1-WH2) gold as they won all their group matches.
Jaurequi then made the WH2 women’s singles final where she beat Turkiye’s Emine Seckin 13-21 21-8 21-15.
Jaurequi’s compatriot Rubi Fernandez won the women’s singles Short Stature (SH6) gold, beating another Turkiye player, Elif Dokuzluoglu, 21-12 21-8.
Other medallists for Peru included Nilton Quispe/Jesus Salva (silver, men’s doubles SH6), Nilton Quispe (bronze, mixed doubles SH6 with Australia’s Katelyn Colley); Roberth Nolberto Fajardo Flores/Jaquelin Burgos (mixed doubles WH1-WH2), and Denith Silva (bronze, mixed doubles WH1-WH2 with Australia’s Nang Van Nguyen).
