Pilar Jauregui emerged the most successful athlete at the Peru Para Badminton International 2026, winning all her three events to help Peru win seven titles and finish just behind Brazil in the overall standings.
The home icon won her Wheelchair (WH2) singles after opponent Annika Schroeder retired after the first game; Jaurequi then teamed up with Jaquelin Burgos for the women’s doubles WH1-WH2 final, which they won beating Brazil’s Ana Gomes/Milani Maria Silva Gomes 21-9 21-11.
Jaurequi completed her three-title sweep, winning the mixed doubles WH1-WH2 with Michael Vargas Egas over Kim Jung Jun/Jaquelin Burgos in the closest final of the day, 8-21 21-14 24-22.
Also contributing to Peru’s haul were Short Stature (SH6) players Giuliana Poveda and Nilton Quispe. The two teamed up in mixed doubles and comfortably beat Ivan Segura/Oliwia Szmigiel 21-14 21-16.
Poveda returned for her singles, and after a tight first game, eased past Jayci Simon 22-20 21-13.
Nilton Quispe had earlier won the men’s doubles SH6 with Jesus Salva, with the pair maintaining an all-win record in their group.
For Brazil, who finished with eight gold medals, the most successful athlete was Standing Upper (SU5) athlete Yuki Roberto Rodrigues who won men’s singles gold, and silver medals in doubles and mixed doubles.
Others who contributed to Brazil’s haul were: Vitor Tavares (SH6), Ana Carolina Coutinho Reis (SL4), Bruna Danielle Moreira Vasconcellos (SU5), Arthur Terencio Dias (WH1), Mikaela Da Costa Almeida/Kauana Michelson Beckencamp (SL3-SU5), Marcelo Alves Conceicao/Julio Cesar Godoy (WH1-WH2) and Rogerio Junior Xavier De Oliveira/Edwarda De Oliveira Dias (SL3-SU5).
