The Women’s Singles event delivered high-level competition from start to finish, culminating in a standout performance by Michelle Li, who once again demonstrated her experience and quality to claim the gold medal of the XXIX YONEX Pan Am Individual Championships 2026.
Li opened her campaign with a solid win over Brazil’s Ana Iwata (21-16, 21-5), followed by a controlled victory against the Dominican Republic’s Daniela Acosta (21-15, 21-16). She maintained her consistency in the quarterfinals, overcoming Disha Gupta (21-15, 21-16), before defeating compatriot Chloe Hoang in the semifinals (21-11, 21-15).
The final featured an all-Canadian showdown against Wen Yu Zhang, guaranteeing gold for Canada. After a competitive start, Li’s experience and composure proved decisive. She confidently won the first game and, despite a late push from Zhang in the second, maintained her composure to secure the match in straight games (21-16, 22-20).

With this victory, Michelle Li captures her seventh Women’s Singles title at the Pan Am Championships, further cementing her legacy as the most successful player in the history of the event. To this achievement, she adds her three Pan American Games singles gold medals, highlighting a career defined by consistency and excellence at the continental level.
This result also marks her return to the Top 10 of the BWF World Ranking, reaffirming her position among the world’s elite. A multiple-time Olympian, Li continues to set the standard in the Americas, combining experience, precision, and competitive resilience to remain at the highest level of international badminton.
