From April 7 to 10, Lima, Peru, will host the XXIX YONEX Pan Am Individual Championships 2026, bringing together the top badminton athletes in the Americas. The tournament offers an important opportunity to compete for continental titles and valuable world ranking points, reaffirming Lima as a key destination for elite badminton in the region.
A strong and diverse field will take the courts, with athletes from Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, the United States of America, and host Peru.
Men’s Singles
Canada’s Victor Lai, defending champion, arrives as a leading contender alongside compatriots Brian Yang and Joshua Nguyen. Guatemala’s four-time champion Kevin Cordón seeks another historic title, while Mark Alcala (USA) and Jonathan Arias (Brazil) aim to reach the podium. Peru’s Adriano Viale will look to make an impact with the support of the home crowd.
Women’s Singles
All eyes will be on Canada’s Michelle Li, the most successful player in the tournament’s history, as she pursues another title. She will face strong competition from Wen Yu Zhang, Brazil’s defending champion Juliana Vieira, Peru’s Inés Castillo, and Canada’s Rachel Chan, all aiming to reach the top of the podium.
Doubles
In doubles, the American pair Chen Zhi Yi and Presley Smith arrive as favorites after winning the last two editions. Challengers include Brazil’s Fabrício Farias and Davi Silva, Canada’s Kevin Lee and Ty Lindeman, and Izak Batalha and Matheus Voigt (BRA). In women’s doubles, Allison Lee and Lauren Lam, Jennie Gai and Francesca Corbett, Canada’s Jackie Dent and Crystal Lai, and Brazil’s Sâmia Lima and Jaqueline Lima will compete for top honors.
Mixed Doubles
With the absence of the defending champions, the mixed doubles title is open. Key contenders include Presley Smith / Jennie Gai and Chen Zhi Yi / Francesca Corbett from the United States. Brazil’s Fabrício Farias / Jaqueline Lima and Davi Silva / Sania Lima, along with Canada’s Kevin Lee / Eliana Zhang and Lai / Lai, will aim to capture the continental crown.
