In women’s singles, home favourite Beiwen Zhang reclaimed the US Open after over a decade when she beat Indian teen Tanvi Sharma 21-11 16-21 21-10.
Brian Yang got the silver medal in men’s singles, after a great tournament but losing the final against Twenty-year-old Ayush Shetty (IND) 21-18 21-13.
“I didn’t win this tournament for more than 10 years. The win was surprising, because before the tournament I was doing physio and rehab and it was hard because I don’t train a lot. Maybe just twice a week. I didn’t expect much, I wanted to see how it goes.” – Beiwen Zhang, who reclaimed the title she won in 2014.
