Pan Am Junior athletes from Canada, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and United States, got the medals of the individual event of our XXXIII YONEX Pan Am Junior Championships 2025, continental event held in Guatemala city from July 14 to 18.

Players from United States of America earned the majority of the medals, excelling in all events and categories. Audrey Chang won gold in the U19 WS after defeating top seed Emma Meng (CAN) in the final.

“I feel great. This has never happened to me before, and it’s been an incredible experience. The most important thing was to maintain a winning mentality and not give up” said Audrey, who also won gold in women’s doubles with Jasmine Yeung and in the mixed doubles with Tian Qi Zhang.
Canada team also achieved strong results, such as the gold medal in the U17 Men’s Singles, where Kevin Yang led from the start of the competition and won the title. In the same event, a Peruvian player reached the final. Umesh Lescano earned consistent victories, allowing him to reach the final and win the silver medal.

“I’m very grateful and happy with the result. The hardest part was being patient and taking it step by step to achieve what I wanted.” referred Umesh Lescano, who also dreams with more achievements in our sport.
Mexicans also won a medal. In Women’s Doubles U15, Mia Gonzalez and Cinthia Moreno reached the semifinals and got a bronze medal. “We feel happy. We thank our family, coaches, and everyone who supported us in competing here and achieving this result.”

The home crowd also thrilled with every game and the bronze medal Sebastian Anguiano and Luis Cáceros won in MD U13. They reached the semifinals and made all of Guatemala dream of a great result in this event.
“We feel very happy and excited because we put in the effort. We worked hard to win this medal. We’re happy because the country supports us, and we’re grateful to everyone who watches us on social media.”

The award ceremony was led by our BPAC president, Armando Bruni, who shared the stage with Jose Del Busto, BPAC Deputy President, Pilar Carrillo, BWF Council Member, Javier Orozco, BPAC Events Chair, Guillermo Lopez, Badminton Guatemala president, Gerardo Aguirre, president of the Guatemalan Olympic Committee, and local sports authorities.
