In 2015, BWF launched the ‘i am badminton’ campaign at the World Junior Championship held in our region, promoting the values that represent our sport. From there, BPAC is committed to reinforcing this campaign by carrying out various activities in the continental championships.
Today, BWF and BPAC are proud to announce the list of outstanding badminton and Para badminton players who are the new national ambassadors for the BWF ‘i am badminton’ campaign:
- Lino Muñoz (MEX)
- Daniela Macías (PER)
- Raul Anguiano (GUA)
- Pilar Jauregui (PER)
- Vitor Tavares (BRA)
Our new national ambassadors join Michelle Li, campaign ambassador, in promoting values, raising awareness across the region, and encouraging players in all categories to actively participate in the integrity of the sport.
The campaign provides a platform for which players are able to express their love and respect for badminton by advocating and committing to clean and honest play.
Lino Muñoz recognizes that being an ambassador for the campaign will allow him to help new generations in their quest to achieve their goals.
“I have had a long career and believe that it is essential for the new generations to represent a clean and honest sport. I hope that through my position as an ambassador as well as my experience and knowledge, future players will maintain this mentality and represent a clean and honest sport on an international level”.
Daniela Macias believes that being part of the ‘i am badminton’ team commits her to expressing and enjoying what she feels about our sport in the best way.
“Playing clean, playing honestly, and always going out to do one’s best are goals that this campaign encourages, and I love having the opportunity to help with that and to generate more and more awareness in others.”
Raul Anguiano takes this role as a great responsibility because he thinks that the essence of our sport is to be a clean and honest person.
“If we manage to transmit these values through example, we guarantee that badminton continues to grow and be a source of development and inspiration for the world.”
Pilar Jauregui is proud to be an ambassador for the campaign since she identifies with the values that are promoted.
“Sport is the best example to instill values to be better people and also to be better at badminton.”
Vitor Tavares thinks that by being an ambassador for the ‘i am badminton’ campaign, he will be able to help many to fulfill their dreams of sport.
“For me, being an ambassador for the campaign is very rewarding because I see that in that position I will be able to influence other people in the clean practice of sport, inspiring them to fulfil their dreams. It’s not all about winning, it’s about enjoying the game of badminton and doing so in a clean and honest manner.”
The President of BPAC, Vishu Tolan, said that “it is important that our athletes see close examples of how to be better athletes on and off the court. I believe that our ambassadors are a good role model to follow and by promoting this campaign they are safeguarding the future of Pan American badminton.”
